NIMBIN RAINBOW ROAD WALKING TRACK
2023
Ennismore Field Landscape Architects was able to bring a unique mix of local knowledge and design expertise to this seminal project. Having grown up and schooled in Lismore, including being taken to the Aquarius Festival in 1973 as a 9 year old by his parents, Mark Perkins (Principal RLA) has seen the change and growth in the communities of the Northern Rivers and had a clear perspective on the near 20 year evolution of the Rainbow Road Walking Track.
After studying in Sydney and Melbourne and developing a career as an Artist and Landscape Architect he moved back to the area in 2003. Since then he has worked on some of the regions landmark projects including Lismore Street Trees Masterplan, Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre, Gold Coast Airport Masterplan, Lismore Police Station and Hospital and Urban Land Releases and Rezonings in Lismore, Ballina, Byron and Tweed Shires.
From Cullen Street to Alternative Way and Cecil Street, The Nimbin Rainbow Walking Track Stage 1, has been designed as a high quality tourist attraction, environmentally responsible, inclusive and safe walkway, that connects community and facilitates resilience. It generates key parameters for re-establishing businesses and attractions affected by the impact of bushfire on the Natural Environment in the neighbouring World Heritage Rainforests.
